我前幾天去了參觀戴麟趾安老院,了解其重建內容。東華三院及社署向我簡介及實地視察後(見單張,也可參考:http://www.tungwah.org.hk/?content=1363), 我原則上支持此計劃,理據主要有兩點:
1. 此重建項目與惠福道安老院及遊艇會企圖改變土地用途興建豪宅謀利 的性質不同,重建後仍是作為安老院用途, 為應付人口老化的安老需求,應支持此計劃;
2. 重建後的安老院只是9層,初步估計對區內區民的景觀、 空氣流通及交通影響很有限(有少部份向山的單位可能會有意見, 但相信數目很少),當然我仍會在區議會反映居民的關注。
Because of the following reasons, I support the re-development of David Trench Home for the Aged:
1. HK population is facing the aging problem, the demand of home for the aged is big now and will be bigger later;
2. the Home for the Aged is not a 'residential' project which aims at profit but provide more service of elderly care, and the environmental impact is almost trivial.
