Today we had a meeting with the Under-Secretary for Transport and Housing Mr. YAU Shing Mu to follow up the MTR Southern Island Line issue. I raised my proposal of extending the cover-walkway system to Shum Wan Road to help resident there to use MTR service. I stressed four mains points as below:
a. MTRC shouldn't only focus on people near the nullah, but should also meet the demand of better transport service of local residents who mainly live at Shum Wan area;
b. the MTR station is far from Shum Wan area, local residents can't go there conveniently;
c. it won't cost a lot of money on the extension project;
d. the suggestion will help to improve the road transport, because it'll reduce the number of pedestrians and the crossing facilities.
今天本來區議會與幾位立法會議員會面,但基本上屬於禮貌式拜會,故與黨友分工後,我參加了與運輸局邱誠武副局長的會議,因為跟進地鐵發展比禮貌式拜會更重要。我再次提出退而求其次的建議:將現時港鐵提出的行人天橋系統延伸到深灣道。
我主要有四個理據:
1.質疑港鐵只針對性服務其物業上蓋的業主及商貿酒店區市民,卻不理區內居民交通權益;
2.現時黃竹坑港鐵站離深灣太遠,當區主要的居民區約8千人不方便使用,尤以雅濤閣為甚;
3.延伸現時港鐵行人天橋系統深灣道花費不多;
4.延伸行人天橋系統有助減少行人佔用路面,又可減少斑馬線和紅綠燈位,有助改善日漸惡化的南朗山道及深灣道交通。
邱先生承諾會研究我這個建議的可行性,局方主要擔心日後設施沒人用。雖只得到官式答案,但我會繼續跟進。
